Let’s be honest, nothing hurts quite like an affair. Period. So, trying to overcome an affair and have a thriving marriage again seems impossible. However, we know it can be done. Hence, Beauty for Ashes.
The name “Beauty for Ashes” comes from a verse in the Bible.
The verse was written as being spoken from God to a group of people who have lost their way in life. They are lost, partly because of their doings and partly the doings of others. No matter, God speaks into their situation and says that He will give them “beauty for ashes.” He’s offering an exchange. The exchange being, Him giving them beauty for places of loss and sadness. They knew exactly what He meant…for they would place ashes on their forehead in times of sadness, as a public display of their condition. To be offered beauty, they understood that God would help them wipe that off and find gladness again.
So it is, this verse became a life verse for me & my wife, believing that God would do the same for us: exchange ashes for something beautiful. Our ashes were in our marriage. I had an affair and hurt my wife, kids and many others, deeply.
From the moment we began rebuilding our marriage, we clung to this verse. Now, we stand as a voice telling others, that you too can make it out of the ashes and find something beautiful together – again. And, in some ways, even more beautiful than ever before.
